Busy Professionals: How to Deal with an Aging Parent Disaster

September 19, 2015 by VillagePlan™ Team

You just got a promotion at work that requires lots of important meetings and some travel. Then you get the call that your Mom fell and broke her hip and she was the primary caregiver for Dad who has Parkinson’s disease.

Now what do you do?

You have two options: take responsibility or get help. We recommend you get the best information from the best resource to help your aging parent.

One phone call to the Experts-on-Call 888-585-7579 of the VillagePlan™ will triage your immediate concern with both Mom and Dad. Your parents (and you) will be enrolled in the VillagePlan™, you will be given a referral to a local expert, who is a member of our network. Our experts are all members of the Aging Life Care Association, formerly known as the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers, or meet our stringent standards for membership.

The Aging Life Care Expert  will jump in and secure care for Dad, follow up with Mom at the hospital, and keep you in the loop on what is happening with our secure system of family communication. The Care Manager will alert you to serious changes and keep you advised of all decisions. After the discharge from the hospital, the Aging Life Care Manager will arrange for all post discharge supplies and set up the home for a positive transition.

Give us a call at 888-585-7579 before you get “THE CALL” in the middle of the night. Be proactive so you can be available to your career as well as your family. You have a real Village to support you with the VillagePlan™!
